CALL TO HOLD THE 14TH WIDF CONGRESS
The Executive
Committee of the Women's International Democratic Federation is calling
on all its affiliate member organizations to hold the 14th Congress in
April 2007 in Venezuela, under the slogan - "Women of the World
- A vital force against neo-liberal globalization, terrorism and imperialist
wars - For Equality, Economic and Social Justice and Peace".
The Executive
Committee meeting defined the following themes for the said Congress:
THEME 1: The
(negative) impacts of neo-liberal globalization on women.
THEME 2: The
impact of terrorism and imperialist wars on women.
THEME 3: The
trafficking and commodification of women and children (in the situation
of migrant, refugee and displaced women).
THEME 4: Building
international solidarity against political repression and all forms of
violence against women.
THEME 5: Defending
indigenous women's rights to their culture and for equality.
THEME 6: Advancing
women's equal social rights to work, health, education, social security,
hunger and others.
THEME 7: The
role of media in changing the negative image of women.
THEME 8: Women
in Power and Political Decision-making positions.
THEME 9: The
history and role of WIDF in defending women's rights, national independence,
social justice, democracy and peace.
THEME 10: The
WIDF, Feminism and the Gender theory.
