Wortley Hall, Sheffield - The workers stately home
NAW is a shareholder in Wortley Hall which was previously owned by the Wharnciffe family, whose wealth was mostly derived from mining in South Yorkshire. It fell into decay over the years and was bought with funds raised by selling shares at 0ne shilling each to labour movement organisation and individuals. On 5 May 1951 it was formally opened as an educational and holiday centre for the trade union, labour and cooperative movements.

The Sylvia Pankhurst Memorial Committee
NAW is a founding sponsor of the SPMC. Its aim being to raise enough funds to erect a permanent memorial to Sylvia, a socialist feminist who during the campaign for women’s suffrage at the turn of the 20th century, not only braved the horrors of hunger striking and forcible feeding but also founded and built a remarkable women’s organisation in the East End of London.
